There are two main types of 3D filament plastics on the market, PLA and ABS. Read more about the two types of filament below.
PLA: It is said that most 3D printers are compatible with various types of plastic, but for most consumers, they choose PLA plastic as this type of filament is sturdy and biodegradable as it is made of grain. The scent of this filament is therefore also pleasant, it prints easily and well, and is often the cheapest variant on the market.
PLA filament also has one of the lowest melting temperatures, as it can deform at just 60 degrees, so you should avoid leaving your PLA figures in, for example, a hot car on a sunny day.
If you want to print toys, various models and accessories that can withstand a little of each, then PLA is the right choice for you.
ABS: ABS is the second largest type of plastic for 3D printing. We know the type from the well-known LEGO bricks. This type of filament is stronger than PLA and has a higher melting temperature, ABS deforms at 100 degrees.
This filament also dissolves in acetone, which can be used if you want a smoother surface after printing.
The disadvantage of ABS plastic for comparison with PLA is a less comfortable air and a higher printing temperature (usually around 230 degrees).
ABS can be used for all the same things as PLC.
